Lennard van Karnenbeek

In 2022 I graduated from the University of Twente with a Master’s diploma in Technical Medicine with a focus on medical imaging and interventions. During my Master’s program I have completed various internships across multiple hospitals in the Netherlands. Throughout these internships I gained interest in innovative devices and techniques to help patients, especially within the surgical field.

After my graduation project I have worked in the Medisch Spectrum Twente  for 1 year where I focused on AI and software programming. I am now working as a PhD student in Theo Ruers’ group where I can combine all the aforementioned interest and experiences on integrating optical techniques with ultrasound to develop a real-time tissue discrimination tool that can provide guidance during oncological breast surgery.
