Founded in 1913, the Netherlands Cancer Institute is an comprehensive cancer center in which research and care are closely connected. By bringing together a research institute and a specialized cancer hospital within one organization, we create an environment in which scientific insight and clinical expertise continuously strengthen one another.
Our institute includes 750 scientists and scientific support staff from more than 45 countries, alongside a dedicated cancer hospital with 230 medical specialists, 212 beds, around 140,000 outpatient visits each year, 12 operating theaters and 11 irradiation units for radiotherapy. Together, they form a setting in which discovery, care and innovation can move forward side by side.
Our research is supported through core funding from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Dutch Cancer Society and individual donors, as well as project grants from national and international organizations.
