Freija Geldof

In 2018 I graduated from the Master Technical Medicine at the University of Twente, with a specialization in the direction of medical imaging and interventions. During my Master's program I performed multiple internships in different hospitals and that's when I developed a strong interest in the surgical departments.

After my graduation project at the department of surgical oncology at the NKI, that was focused on surgical navigation in head and neck surgery, I continued working as a PhD student in Theo Ruers' group. In my current research project I am working on combining optical techniques with ultrasound and navigation technologies to develop a real-time tissue discrimination tool that can provide guidance during oncological surgery.
