Email Benjamin RowlandI obtained my PhD in the lab of Francesca Mattiroli at the Hubrecht Institute (Utrecht – NL), where I investigated the first step of genome organization, i.e the packaging of naked DNA into chromatin. Using biochemical reconstitutions and recombinant proteins, I studied how the histone chaperone CAF-1 and the DNA replication factor PCNA mediate the assembly of bona fide chromatin structures following DNA synthesis. As of February 2024, I joined the lab of Benjamin Rowland as a Postdoc, where I will study the subsequent steps of genome organization. More specifically, I will investigate the steps that enable cohesin to connect the sister chromatids of each chromosome, a process that is essential for accurate cell division.
