Since 2007 I work at the NKI-AVL as head of the division Heelkundige Oncologische Disciplines (HOD). My clinical expertise is focused on liver surgery and colorectal surgery. In this field there are multiple national and international studies supervised by me.
Next to the clinical activities research focusses on the development and introduction of new image guided treatment methods. This has the potential to drastically improve the quality of the surgical procedure, while risks are minimized.
I work on these subjects from my position as professor Oncology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of Twente. Since 1994 I work as an oncologic surgeon, I did my training in the Hammersmith Hospital and King's College Hospital, both in London.
