Cryo Storage Kambey

Cryo storage

The NKI offers its researchers centralized cryo storage facilities. Biological specimens need to be stored for future research at low to extreme low temperatures. Human material is stored at -80°C or -150°C in our biobanks. Cell lines and other biological specimens are stored in liquid nitrogen.

Both facilities have dedicated operators who store and retrieve samples upon request of the researchers. The facilities have back-up facilities, monitoring and logging equipment, sample management systems, safety measures, and emergency procedures in place to provide safe, controlled and reliable storage of precious specimens.
