Three TOP grants for NKI researchers

17-12-2013

Three projects have been selected for funding by The Netherlands Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMW). The TOP grants are given to the research proposal of Heinz Jacobs, the proposal of Huib Ovaa and Jacques Neefjes, and the proposal of Jannie Borst which she submitted together with Rene van Lier of Sanquin. Each grant is for approximately € 680,000 to fund a project of 4 years. ZonMW received 76 project proposals, of which 7 have been selected for funding based on the research question, the research plan, the quality of the research group, the feasibility, and the valorization.

The projects are:

  • Heinz Jacobs: The role of stable immunoglobulin transcripts in establishing allelic exclusion
  • Jannie Borst/ Rene van Lier: Discriminating signaling nodes in conventional and regulatory T cells to guide clinical targeting of co-stimulatory receptors in cancer, autoimmunity and transplant rejection.
  • Jacques Neefjes/Huib Ovaa: Development of novel antibiotics acting on host targets
