Thesis defense Tomasz Ahrends

On Thursday, 21 October, Tomasz Ahrends defended his thesis about the crucial role of CD4+ T cell help in the early phases of CD8+ T cell responses. Tomasz, whose supervisor was Jannie Borst, described novel mechanisms by which both primary and memory CD8+ T cell responses are enhanced by CD4+ T cell help. He found that CD8+ T cells primed in the absence of CD4+ T cell help, expressed low levels of numerous effector molecules. Congratulations, Tomasz!
