For more than ten years he was a professor at Erasmus University. Now he and his research group at the Netherlands Cancer Institute will work more closely with Utrecht colleagues to further unravel how DNA works. The thing is: 97% percent of our DNA that does not consist of genes is still a mystery to scientists. Bas is trying to crack the code of that mysterious DNA using powerful new techniques, including artificial intelligence.
