Jop Kind’s group focuses on the development of single-cell multi-omic technologies to acquire detailed knowledge of the epigenetic mechanisms that govern lineage decisions in early embryogenesis. His group developed the first technologies to profile protein-DNA interactions and epigenetics in single cells and to combine such measurements with transcriptomics to obtain multimodal information from the same cell. Implementation of these methods in mouse preimplantation development identified the initiating events that precede zygotic gene activation (ZGA)4 and revealed unexpected interdependencies between epigenetic layers in reprogramming the epigenome prior to the exit from pluripotentcy.
