Function description
We are seeking a skilled research technician to join the proteomics facility of the Netherlands Cancer Institute. The Netherlands Cancer Institute offers a dynamic and collaborative scientific environment, being a leading comprehensive cancer center and hosting cutting-edge research laboratories.
The Proteomics Facility supports a wide range of cancer research projects using advanced mass spectrometry and proteomics technologies and specializes in technologies to characterize proteins and post-translational modifications in cancer cells and tissues. Current projects running within the facility include collaborations with various research groups aiming to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer initiation and progression, therapy resistance, and immune-oncology.
Your role- You will be responsible for performing various sample preparation workflows to analyze (phospho)proteomes
- You will help to set up single cell proteomics workflows in our facility, making use of the recently acquired cellenONE platform
- You will be trained in operating and maintaining state of the art hybrid mass spectrometers (Exploris 480 and Orbitrap Astral, both from Thermo)
- You will be performing routine quality control and troubleshooting tasks
- You will support scientific staff by implementing and optimizing various mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows
- You will be trained in basic raw data processing and downstream computational analyses of proteomics data.
Job requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated research technician, ideally with a background in proteomics and/or mass spectrometry. The candidate should preferably have experience with sample preparation techniques for mass spectrometry, be familiar with operating mass spectrometers, have strong organizational skills with attention to detail, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and effective communication skills in English.
Compensation
We offer a competitive salary with additional holiday and end-of-year bonuses based on your qualifications and experience. Your salary and secondary employment conditions will be in accordance with the
collective labour agreement for hospitals, FWG 45, with a monthly gross salary ranging from € 2.982,- to € 4.015,- based on a full-time (36-hour) appointment.
Term of employmentThis position is offered as a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent position.
