Make a Difference in Cancer Treatment and Valorize our Optical Technologies for Tissue Sensing
Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in healthcare? Do you want to use your technical expertise to improve cancer treatment?
The Image-Guided Surgery (IGS) research group at the Netherlands Cancer Institute – Antoni van Leeuwenhoek is specialized in optical technologies for tissue sensing, guiding surgical treatment (e.g diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging and FLIM). We are currently developing and implementing these technologies in clinical practice. For further widespread implementation and valorization, we are seeking an enthousiastic researcher for data analysis to join our dynamic team of researchers, clinicians, and scientists. You will contribute to developing advanced data analysis techniques and implementing cutting-edge data methods for various scientific research projects within the IGS group.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, your insights and technical skills will directly enhance ongoing projects. Ultimately, your coding expertise and data analysis contributions will help surgeons improve cancer treatment outcomes.
Job requirements
- Degree in Technical Medicine/Biomedical Engineering/Computer sciences or a related field;
- Also candidates with a PhD degree are invited to respond;
- Experience in optics is preferred;
- Strong programming skills with experience in Python, Matlab, or similar tools, and the ability to quickly learn new libraries and languages;
- Experience with software packages for machine learning, signal processing and data analysis;
- Prior experience in medical data analysis is a plus but not required;
- Proficiency with machine learning frameworks;
- Technology-minded and willing to learn about new tools and technologies;
- Excellent communication and service-oriented skills to support collaborative research;
- Dutch speaking is preferred. Proficiency in English.
Compensation
- The vacancy is available immediately;
- You will be employed for a period of at least one year, with a possibility for extension;
- You will work in a cutting-edge research environment;
- You will join a dynamic international research group;
- You will collaborate with scientists and clinicians with expertise in different disciplines;
- The gross salary per month can differ, depending on your experience; the terms of employment will be in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Hospitals (CAO Hospitals);
- In addition, you will receive a fixed end-of-year bonus in December (8,33%) and in May you will receive 8,33% holiday pay;
- You will have access to state-of-the-art lab equipment and computational resources;
- Your travel expenses will be reimbursed at € 0,23 per km. Free parking at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek is also part of the package;
- Personnel is stimulated to use public transport and bicycle and therefore we offer an interesting arrangement for bikers and/or discount on the NS-business card;
- Amsterdam is a stunning city with many cultural amenities. The institute is located within a 20-minute tram or bicycle ride from the center of Amsterdam and within 20 minutes from Schiphol airport by car, bus or bicycle.
