Bioinformatician in Breast Cancer Immunology

Function description

In this position, you will integrate genomic and immunological data collected in innovative trials with combination immunotherapy in breast cancer patients. Your bioinformatic analyses will center around the prediction of response to therapy, a better understanding of the tumor-immune microenvironment and the development of novel therapeutic strategies. You will work with bulk RNA, TCR, exome and scRNA sequencing data and integrate this with clinical and pathological response data. Recently we started exploiting multiplex tissue imaging technologies and spatial transcriptomics to obtain a more in-depth picture of the cancer-immune-interactions.

Team
The group of Marleen Kok works on Breast Cancer Immunotherapy in collaboration with the Computational Cancer Biology group of Lodewyk Wessels. You will be a key player in a translational research team with clinicians, cancer researchers, immunologists and computational scientists. Your projects will be in close collaboration with clinical PhD students and supervised by a senior post-doc with computational expertise. You will be imbedded in the department of Tumor Biology & Immunology and will be exposed to a broad spectrum of cancer immunology research. We actively collaborate with many research groups in the NKI and strongly believe in the power of ‘team science’.

NKI
The Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital and the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in Amsterdam is a Comprehensive Cancer Centre combining a hospital and research laboratories in a single independent organization. The NKI accommodates 650 scientists and scientific personnel from more than 45 different countries. Research discussions, lectures and seminars in English and a large number of Dutch and non-Dutch postdocs, students and staff members contribute to the stimulating and international atmosphere of the Institute. We offer an inspiring and interactive research environment, state-of-the-art facilities, training, a competitive salary (including possibilities for tax-reduction) and housing facilities in the vicinity of the Institute. The Institute is located close to the city center of Amsterdam and the international Schiphol airport.
