Around 600 scientists are currently working at the NKI, supported by approximately 150 scientific and 150 administrative professionals. Together, they span the full spectrum of research — from fundamental science to clinical innovation — united by a shared drive to turn complexity into discovery. Through our embedding in national and international scientific networks, our people benefit from access to a broad range of institutes, technologies, and expertise.
Approximately 55 nationalities call the NKI home, creating a vibrant, international community where open minds and equal voices shape the way we work. All communication is in English. At the NKI, we believe breakthroughs happen when inspired minds come together, freely and fully. We welcome everyone who wants to contribute to our mission, regardless of ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, age, or ability.
Our institute sits close to the heart of Amsterdam – 15 minutes by bike – and Schiphol Airport. Amsterdam is a multicultural city full of energy: festivals, museums, sports, and a world-renowned cultural scene. Housing for most of our staff is available in the surrounding area.
